Union, MO (August 29, 2026) – One driver died, and another was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a head-on collision on US-50 in Franklin County. The accident occurred around 2:07 p.m. Thursday, August 27, east of MO-BB.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 55-year-old Union man driving a Nissan Altima attempted to pass multiple vehicles. He entered the eastbound lane, where his car struck the front of an eastbound Nissan Maxima.
The 48-year-old Union woman driving the Maxima was seriously injured and taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. The Altima driver was pronounced dead at the site.
Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the roadway. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review. Our condolences go to the deceased man’s family, while we hope the injured woman makes a full recovery.
