How Serious Injury Crashes Are Typically Investigated
When a crash results in life-threatening injuries, investigators typically gather information from multiple sources to determine how the vehicles came together. This may include witness statements, vehicle damage assessments, roadway evidence, and traffic camera footage when available.
Cases involving allegations of reckless driving or attempts to evade a traffic stop can require additional review. Investigators may examine vehicle speeds, travel paths, and the sequence of actions leading up to the collision.
Medical reports can also help clarify the extent of injuries, while reconstruction specialists may analyze physical evidence from the roadway. These findings help create a clearer picture of the factors that contributed to the crash and its outcome.
