Overland Park, KS (April 21, 2026) – A child has died after suffering injuries in an apartment fire that occurred early Saturday morning, April 18, in Overland Park. The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. at the Sheridan Ridge Apartments.
Emergency units arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a two-story building. Crews rescued two people from the roof and two more from a second-floor bathroom, while another person was located outside the apartment.
One adult and three children were taken to the hospital in critical condition, while another adult was listed in stable condition. On Tuesday, April 21, officials confirmed that one of the injured children died at the hospital, and another child remained hospitalized.
