Paulding Co, OH (January 9, 2026) – A 54-year-old man from Paulding sustained life-threatening injuries on Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle while crossing County Road 115 in Emerald Township.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. when a 24-year-old driver was traveling southbound and struck a pedestrian, later identified as Larry Dix. Reports indicate that Dix was crossing the roadway when he entered the southbound lane and was hit. Officials noted that he was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the lack of visibility.
Emergency medical crews transported Dix to a nearby hospital before he was airlifted to Fort Wayne for advanced care due to the severity of his injuries. Authorities confirmed his condition as life-threatening.
Troopers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including roadway conditions and visibility factors.
Our thoughts are with Mr. Dix and his loved ones during this difficult time, and we hope for a full and strong recovery.
