What Happens During a Pedestrian Crash Investigation?
Pedestrian collisions require a thorough investigation because those on foot are particularly vulnerable to serious injuries. Investigators typically review roadway conditions, traffic controls, visibility, witness statements, and physical evidence from the scene to determine how the crash occurred.
Authorities may also examine vehicle damage, skid marks, surveillance footage, and other available evidence to reconstruct the events leading up to the collision. When severe injuries are involved, investigators frequently take additional steps to document the scene and gather information.
The findings from these investigations help establish the factors that contributed to the crash and may assist authorities in determining whether any violations or other circumstances played a role in the incident.
