Los Angeles, CA (July 28, 2026) – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a car, which then swerved into the opposite lane and hit an autonomous Waymo vehicle, in the 1000 block of Venice Boulevard in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles, according to the police. The wreck was reported around 5:44 a.m. on Sunday, July 26.
The woman was rushed to the hospital. Four other people who complained of pain were treated at the scene.
Waymo said it was coordinating with first responders following the crash and that rider and road user safety remains its priority. The cause remains under investigation.
