Why Pedestrian Crashes at Night Often Result in Severe Injuries
Pedestrian crashes that occur at night can be especially dangerous due to reduced visibility and limited reaction time for drivers. Even when traffic is lighter, roadway conditions such as lighting, speed, and driver awareness can significantly affect safety.
Pedestrians are more vulnerable in service road environments where vehicles may be entering or exiting main highways. In many cases, drivers may have only seconds to react when a person is in or near the roadway. Safety experts emphasize the importance of visibility, attentiveness, and caution in these areas, especially during late-night hours.
