Altoona, WI (July 10, 2026) – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a commercial motor vehicle at the intersection of Sawgrass Pl and Saint Andrews Drive in Altoona, on Wednesday morning, July 8.
The crash was reported at approximately 5:00 a.m. when Altoona police responded to the scene. Officers and emergency units provided lifesaving measures to the pedestrian, but the person was pronounced dead. According to investigators, the pedestrian was crossing the roadway when they were struck by the commercial motor vehicle.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian at an uncontrolled intersection and failure to yield at a stop sign, resulting in death.
