How Pedestrian Crashes on Highways Can Become Severe
Pedestrian crashes on highways can be especially dangerous because vehicles travel at high speeds and pedestrians have little protection from impact. These incidents may involve multiple vehicles when drivers have limited time to react to changing conditions ahead.
Investigators may review roadway conditions, vehicle movements, and available evidence to understand how the crash occurred. Highway safety measures, including staying alert and avoiding distractions, can help reduce risks for everyone using the roadway.
