Tallahassee, FL (July 16, 2026) – A pedestrian lost their life after being struck by a vehicle during the morning commute on Wednesday, July 15, near the intersection of Capital Cir SE and Midyette Rd in southeast Tallahassee.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:53 a.m. A passerby reported seeing a person lying in the roadway as traffic quickly backed up, with a large emergency presence surrounding the area. Southbound traffic along Capital Cir SE was diverted onto Old St. Augustine Rd for several hours while crews worked at the scene, causing significant congestion throughout the morning.
Officials later confirmed the person died as a result of the crash; they also stated the driver remained at the scene, and the case was not being investigated as a hit-and-run. The identity of the pedestrian has not been released, and no additional information was immediately available. Investigators continue working to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.
