What Information Is Commonly Reviewed After a Fatal Pedestrian Collision?
After a fatal pedestrian collision, investigators typically examine the roadway, vehicle damage, and the position where the pedestrian was found. Physical evidence, surveillance footage, and witness statements may help establish how the roadway encounter unfolded.
Other factors often reviewed include lighting conditions, traffic controls, visibility, vehicle speed, and whether the pedestrian was using a marked crossing. The timing of emergency calls and available electronic data from the vehicle may also help develop a complete timeline. These findings help explain the circumstances surrounding the collision and support an accurate reconstruction of what occurred.
