Avondale, AZ (July 20, 2026) – A man lost his life after being struck by multiple vehicles early on Friday morning, July 17, on eastbound Interstate 10 near Avondale Avenue. Emergency units were called to the freeway around 1:30 a.m.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the man was hit by several vehicles while on the freeway. He was pronounced dead at the roadway. Investigators have not said why he was on Interstate 10 at the time.
Eastbound traffic was diverted off the freeway at Avondale Avenue while crews completed their work. The roadway reopened shortly before 6:30 a.m., while westbound traffic continued without disruption.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision, and additional details may be released as the review progresses.
