Jacksonville, FL (August 28, 2026) – A pedestrian died early on Wednesday after being struck by a truck near McCormick Rd and Kernan Blvd N in Jacksonville. The wreck caused traffic delays in the area as investigators examined what happened.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the collision occurred near the intersection on August 26 in the morning. Drivers were advised to use alternate routes and allow additional travel time.
The pedestrian’s identity was not released. The initial report did not say whether the person was using a crosswalk or whether the truck driver faced citations.
The deadly accident occurred two days after another pedestrian was killed on Park St in Jacksonville’s Brooklyn neighborhood. That person was struck by an SUV near a skatepark and later died at a hospital.
The circumstances surrounding Wednesday’s crash remain under review.
