Bridgeport, CT (June 27, 2026) – The Bridgeport police are investigating a fatal pedestrian versus car accident that left a 71-year-old man seriously injured.
The accident reportedly happened on Friday, June 26, shortly before 7:00 a.m. near the intersection of Water Street and John Street in Bridgeport. According to the police report, the man was attempting to cross Water Street from the eastbound sidewalk when he was hit by a black Honda Civic traveling northbound.
Investigators said the 29-year-old Bridgeport driver continued through the intersection of John Street before striking the pedestrian. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials. The pedestrian was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.
