Garvin suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision was hurt and treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Additional details about the circumstances surrounding the crash have not yet been released, although authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
We extend our sincere condolences to the loved ones of Garvin.
Why Construction Areas Can Increase the Risk of Multi-Vehicle Crashes
Road construction zones often create changing traffic patterns that require drivers to reduce speed and pay closer attention to surrounding vehicles. When traffic slows suddenly near work areas, rear-end and chain-reaction crashes can happen with little warning.
Investigators commonly review vehicle spacing, braking distance, and roadway conditions after crashes involving construction equipment or paving vehicles. Large work trucks may limit visibility for approaching drivers, especially on busy highways or two-lane roads. Traffic congestion, lane shifts, and reduced speed zones can also affect driver reaction time. In many multi-vehicle collisions, damage patterns and debris locations help show the order of impact between vehicles. Roadway signage, warning markers, and the position of construction equipment may also be reviewed to better understand how the accident unfolded.
