Petaluma, CA (January 23, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash claimed at least one life early Friday morning on westbound Adobe Rd just east of Frates Rd in Sonoma County. The fatal collision occurred around 5:50 a.m. and led to a full closure of the roadway for several hours as emergency crews responded.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident involved a red Tesla, a blue Honda CR-V, and a white Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicles were found blocking lanes with hazard lights activated upon responders’ arrival. One individual sustained major injuries and was transported to Memorial Hospital, while at least one other person was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the severity of the crash and presence of debris, Caltrans was requested for a hard closure and street sweeping. Adobe Rd was shut down between Frates Rd and Stage Gulch Rd/Highway 116 for cleanup and investigation. The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office was also called to the scene.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Early reports indicate that both directions of traffic were affected, and the sequence of collisions is still being reviewed.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim and send our thoughts for healing to all those impacted by this tragic accident.
