Safety Considerations for Bicyclists on Roadways
Collisions involving bicycles often happen at intersections or when vehicles turn across a cyclist’s path. Reduced visibility, distractions, or unclear right-of-way can increase the risk of crashes.
Even at low speeds, bicyclists are vulnerable to serious injuries, particularly to the back, head, or limbs. Wearing helmets, using lights or reflective gear, and staying alert to traffic patterns can help reduce risk, while drivers are reminded to watch carefully for cyclists in their path.
