Phoenix, AZ (March 14, 2026) – Two people were injured after a crash involving a vehicle transporter and a pickup truck on a Phoenix freeway.
The accident occurred just after 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, along Interstate 17 near the 7th Street interchange. Early reports indicate the vehicle transporter crossed multiple lanes of traffic before colliding with the pickup truck.
Video from the scene showed a white pickup overturned off the roadway following the impact. The driver of the pickup was ejected during the crash, while a passenger in the same vehicle was also injured.
Both people inside the pickup were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Information about the severity of their injuries has not been released.
Traffic in the area was briefly disrupted while crews worked at the scene. All lanes of the freeway were reopened shortly before 3 p.m.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. Our thoughts are with those injured as they receive medical care.
Why Multi-Vehicle Crashes on Busy Freeways Can Lead to Serious Injuries
Crashes on high-speed freeways often result in more severe injuries than those on local streets. Vehicles typically travel faster on highways, which increases the force of impact during a collision.
When a large vehicle, such as a transporter or truck, crosses lanes unexpectedly, other drivers may have little time to react. Sudden movements across several lanes can lead to chain-reaction accidents or direct impacts with nearby vehicles.
Rollover crashes can also happen when vehicles are struck at certain angles or forced off the roadway. When a vehicle overturns, occupants are at greater risk of being thrown from the vehicle if they are not wearing seat belts or if the impact is severe.
Freeway incidents can also disrupt traffic for hours while damaged vehicles are cleared and roadways are inspected. These situations often require careful scene management to safely reopen lanes for drivers.
