Pickaway Co., OH (May 18, 2026) – A woman is dead, and a man is in critical condition after a pickup truck struck a three-wheel motorcycle at the intersection of State Route 159 and Kingston Adelphi Road in Pickaway Township on Sunday, May 17. The crash was reported at approximately 2:50 p.m.
The driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck was heading westbound on Kingston Adelphi Road when they failed to stop at a stop sign and proceeded into the intersection. The truck struck a CAN-AM Spyder three-wheel motorcycle, and the force of the impact threw both the driver and passenger from the bike.
The motorcycle passenger, Peggy Sims, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The motorcycle’s driver was hospitalized in critical condition. No injuries were reported for the pickup truck driver. Still, authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
Our sincere condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Peggy Sims.
What Are the Risks of Stop Sign Violations at Rural Ohio Intersections?
Rural intersections in Ohio, particularly those where a side road meets a state route, rely heavily on stop signs to manage traffic flow safely. When a driver fails to come to a complete stop, they enter the intersection without knowing whether cross traffic is approaching. At higher speeds, this leaves almost no time for either driver to react.
Three-wheel motorcycles like the CAN-AM Spyder offer less physical protection than enclosed vehicles, making occupants especially vulnerable in a broadside collision. Being thrown from a motorcycle in a crash significantly increases the risk of life-threatening injuries. These types of stop sign violations are among the most preventable causes of serious crashes on Ohio’s rural roads.
