Maxwell, NE (August 15, 2026) – The Nebraska State Patrol is currently investigating the cause of a crash between a pickup truck and a semi-truck trailer that caught fire after the crash on eastbound Interstate 80 near Maxwell on Thursday afternoon. The collision occurred near mile marker 186, just west of Maranatha Bible Camp, at approximately 3:43 p.m. on August 13.
Fire crews arrived to find both the pickup and semi-truck trailer on fire. The flames were extinguished, and crews remained at the scene for mop-up operations. One person was taken for medical care by the North Platte Fire Department. The extent of the person’s injuries was not immediately known.
