Dallas, TX (June 16, 2026) – Responders were at the scene of a pickup truck and DART train collision around 4:50 p.m. on Monday, June 15.
The police said the crash occurred on Audelia Road and Royal Lane, near Interstate 635. Investigators said a pickup truck collided with a DART Blue Line train under circumstances that remain under investigation.
When responders arrived, they found the driver of the pickup truck deceased at the scene. Two people aboard the train suffered injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Officials said their injuries were not considered life-threatening. Other passengers on the train were evaluated but declined medical treatment.
The collision disrupted DART Blue Line service near the Lake Highlands Station. Transit officials advised passengers to use shuttle buses between the White Rock and LBJ/Skillman stations while the scene remained active and investigators conducted their review. More details will be released as soon as they become available. We sympathize with the family of the deceased.
What Factors Are Commonly Reviewed After Train-Vehicle Collisions?
Collisions between trains and roadway vehicles require a detailed examination of both rail operations and roadway conditions. Investigators typically review the location of the crossing, warning devices, train speed, sight distance, and the actions of vehicle operators before impact.
Because trains require a significant distance to stop, collisions can occur when a vehicle enters the rail corridor without enough time to clear the tracks. Physical evidence, event recorder data, and witness statements may all be used to reconstruct the sequence of events. Investigators also examine crossing signals, gates, and traffic conditions to determine whether any factors contributed to the crash. These reviews help establish how the collision occurred and identify potential safety concerns.
