Newberry Township, PA (June 30, 2026) – A pickup truck driver died on Monday morning, June 29, after a multi-vehicle crash involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 83 southbound in a construction zone in Newberry Township. The wreck happened just before 6 a.m. near mile marker 32.9.
PennDOT had been working in the area as part of a weekend project on I-83 southbound between exits 33 and 32. The work zone was in the process of being cleared when the crash occurred in backed-up traffic.
The pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither tractor-trailer drivers were not hurt. The York County Coroner’s Office was called to assist.
The victim’s name and additional details about how the collision unfolded had not been released as of this report. I-83 remained closed while investigators continued their work on the accident. The crash is still under active review.
