Why Entrapment Crashes Require a Careful Response
Entrapment crashes can be dangerous because damaged vehicles might make it hard for people to get out safely. Emergency crews may need special tools to remove doors, cut metal, or create space around the injured person. This process must be done carefully to avoid causing further harm.
Two-vehicle crashes at intersections can involve side impacts, angled collisions, or sudden stops. These impacts may cause severe injuries, especially when one person is trapped inside a vehicle. Vehicle position and damage often affect how crews reach those involved.
Road closures are common after fatal crashes. They help protect the scene, give emergency units room to work, and allow crash reconstruction crews to document vehicle locations, debris, and roadway conditions.
