Pleasant Hill, IA (February 4, 2026) – An accident involving a public transit bus and a passenger vehicle left one person seriously injured Tuesday morning in Pleasant Hill, according to local police. The collision was reported around 8:00 a.m. along NE 12th Avenue, where a Jeep and a westbound DART bus came into contact.
Authorities stated that the Jeep was traveling eastbound on NE 12th Avenue when it turned into the path of the oncoming bus, resulting in a head-on collision. The impact caused significant damage to the Jeep, leaving the driver trapped inside the vehicle. Fire crews worked to extricate the driver so medical teams could provide care.
Emergency medical services treated the injured driver, a 28-year-old man, at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Police confirmed that two individuals who were aboard the DART bus at the time of the accident were not injured.
