Rock Island, IL (March 15, 2026) – Seven people were transported to local hospitals following a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon at a busy Rock Island intersection, according to officials.
Crews with the Rock Island Fire Department were dispatched around 4:46 p.m. to the intersection of 11th Street and 42nd Avenue in Rock Island, Illinois.
Emergency responders arrived within minutes and discovered a two-vehicle collision involving a black Jeep and a black Nissan.
According to officials, the Jeep was traveling southbound and ran a red light at the intersection before striking the Nissan.
Authorities reported that eight individuals were involved in the crash. One occupant of the Nissan became trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters.
Additional fire crews and five ambulances responded to assist at the scene as responders worked to treat the injured and safely remove the trapped individual.
In total, seven people were transported to nearby hospitals with varying injuries following the crash. Officials also stated that intoxication was not considered a factor in the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
