What Factors Are Often Examined After a Rollover Along Busy Intersections?
Rollover crashes can occur for several reasons, especially at larger intersections with steady traffic. Investigators may review vehicle speed, turning movements, and whether one vehicle crossed into another lane before the rollover occurred. The positions of guardrails, poles, medians, and other roadside structures may also be examined, as these features can affect how a vehicle overturns after contact.
Road conditions and visibility are also commonly reviewed. Wet pavement, nighttime driving, or limited sight distance can sometimes contribute to loss of control. Vehicle size may also matter, since taller models such as SUVs and Jeeps generally have a higher center of gravity than passenger cars. Photos, roadway markings, and witness statements are frequently used to help piece together how the rollover developed and why the vehicles came to rest where they did.
