Frequently Asked Questions
Does running a red light make a crash more severe? Yes. Vehicles moving through an intersection against a signal are usually traveling at or near full speed, so impacts tend to be harder and injuries more serious than in low-speed crashes.
How does distracted driving factor into intersection crashes? A driver who is not watching the signal or cross traffic can miss a red light entirely. Even a glance away for a couple of seconds can mean entering an intersection too late to stop.
