How Chain-Reaction Crashes Happen on Busy Highways in Sacramento
Chain-reaction crashes can occur when one vehicle strikes another and triggers additional impacts. On highways like I-80, traffic speed and congestion can increase the chances of these incidents.
When a vehicle is stopped or slowed, drivers approaching from behind may not have enough time to react. This can lead to multiple vehicles becoming involved in a short span of time.
Debris and damaged vehicles can also contribute to further risk. Even after the initial crash, nearby drivers must navigate around obstacles, which may cause additional slowdowns until the roadway is fully cleared.
