SAN BERNARDINO, San Bernardino County, Calif., Oct. 25, 2026 — A hit-and-run crash with injuries was reported Saturday morning, October 24, on North Guthrie Street in San Bernardino, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash was first reported near 6337 Guthrie St shortly before 10 a.m. Dispatch logs describe an unknown vehicle leaving the scene before a white Volvo SUV was reported blocking part of the roadway. A traffic hazard was called in at the location, and a tow truck was later requested to clear a vehicle from the scene.
Officers located a vehicle believed to match the one involved in the hit-and-run, the CHP log shows. Investigators noted the vehicle may have been linked to a second collision elsewhere in the city, though that has not been confirmed. San Bernardino police responded to the scene of that possible second crash, and the CHP said it would provide updates as they became available.
It is not known how many people were hurt or how severe their injuries were. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office was asked about the availability of a K9 unit during the response, but logs show that request came back negative. No arrests had been announced as of this writing, and the search for the driver who fled remained active, according to the CHP.
We hope those who were hurt recover fully and quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What injuries are most common in car accidents like this one?
Whiplash, cuts from broken glass, and bruising from seatbelts or airbags are common even in lower-speed crashes. Head and chest injuries can also occur and are not always obvious right away.
What usually causes hit-and-run crashes?
Drivers may flee out of panic, because they're uninsured or unlicensed, or because they're impaired. Distraction and failure to yield are also common factors leading up to the initial collision.
Does speed make a difference in crash severity?
Yes. Higher speeds mean more force on impact and less time for drivers to react, which generally leads to more serious injuries and vehicle damage.
What to Do After a Hit-and-Run Crash in San Bernardino, CA
If you're involved in a hit-and-run, try to move to a safe spot if you can and call for medical help if anyone is hurt. Write down or photograph any details you remember about the other vehicle while they're fresh, including direction of travel. Ask responding officers for a copy of the police report number, and follow up with your insurance company as soon as possible. Even if injuries seem minor at first, a medical evaluation in the days after a crash can catch problems that aren't immediately obvious.
