San Bernardino County, CA (January 8, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle collision involving a rollover and vehicle fire occurred late Wednesday morning on Interstate 15 near Halloran Springs Rd in the Mojave Desert region of San Bernardino County. The crash left at least one person injured and required emergency transportation to a trauma center.
According to dispatch logs from the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just after 11:00 a.m. when a white SUV reportedly crossed over from the northbound lanes into southbound traffic, striking a white pickup truck. One of the vehicles overturned and caught fire, with reports indicating people were still inside at the time.
Bystanders and emergency crews worked quickly at the scene. A 70-year-old man was pulled from one of the vehicles and appeared visibly shaken. Another occupant sustained an unknown medical episode and was transported by San Bernardino Fire to UMC Medical Center for further evaluation.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with debris scattered across the highway. Fire personnel and paramedics responded to assist victims, while CHP coordinated a tow with Ken’s Towing to remove the damaged vehicles from the roadway.
The incident caused temporary traffic disruptions in both directions as responders secured the scene. Authorities are continuing to investigate what led to the crossover and collision.
