San Diego, CA (January 22, 2026) – A motorcyclist sustained injuries early Wednesday morning in a crash on the on-ramp to the I-15 freeway in San Diego. The incident occurred on January 22 when the rider attempted to avoid a nearby vehicle and lost control, crashing onto the roadway.
According to emergency responders, the motorcyclist, a 40-year-old man, reported that a truck veered too close to him while merging. In an attempt to avoid a collision, he swerved to the left and struck an obstacle, laying the motorcycle down. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was not thrown far from the bike.
Medics on scene noted the man was conscious and alert, with complaints of pain in his neck and left shoulder. He did not report any significant trauma and showed movement in all extremities. As a precaution, crews upgraded the call to a major incident due to the speed and nature of the crash.
The injured rider was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. No other vehicles were confirmed to be involved, and the driver of the truck was not identified.
We send our best wishes to the injured motorcyclist and hope for a full and speedy recovery.
