San Diego, CA (January 25, 2026) – Two people were transported to UC San Diego Medical Center following a head-on collision that occurred Saturday night near Campus Point Dr. Emergency medical crews responded to the scene shortly before 8:30 p.m., where at least one victim required vehicle extrication and immediate trauma care.
Crews from USAR Two and Medic 85 were dispatched under emergency Code Three protocol. Medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the collision, including a 32-year-old driver who was extricated from the vehicle and reported symptoms of a head injury. The driver suffered a hematoma, mild neck pain, repetitive questioning, and a brief loss of consciousness, according to emergency responders.
A second patient—a 28-year-old male who self-extricated from the rear passenger area—was also evaluated at the scene. Though he reported no specific injuries, he expressed concern about possibly losing consciousness during the impact. Due to the mechanism of the crash and patient uncertainty, he was transported as a precaution.
The collision reportedly involved a diagonal head-on impact, with approximately five inches of intrusion into the driver’s side of the vehicle. Airbags deployed throughout the vehicle, and both patients were reported to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Vital signs for both individuals were monitored en route, and both were placed in cervical collars as a safety measure.
Authorities have not released information about the other vehicle involved, and the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation. Law enforcement is expected to provide further updates as more details become available.
Our thoughts are with both individuals impacted by this serious collision, and we hope for a swift and full recovery.
