San Francisco, CA (January 19, 2026) – Seven people, including a child, were injured Sunday afternoon after a vehicle crashed into the front entrance of MiShalom Church on Nevada St, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. at 551 Nevada Street while the church was occupied by nearly 50 individuals. Authorities say the vehicle drove into the building’s front door, causing debris to scatter inside the sanctuary. While no one inside was struck directly by the vehicle, several people were hit by falling or flying debris.
Emergency crews responded quickly, and three people, including the child, were transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation. The remaining injured parties were treated on scene for minor wounds. Fire officials confirmed that none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
San Francisco Department of Building and Inspections officials were also dispatched and conducted a structural assessment of the church. They confirmed that the building remained safe for occupancy despite the front-end damage.
At this time, it is not clear what caused the driver to lose control and crash into the structure. Authorities have not released information about the driver’s condition or whether any charges are being considered.
Our thoughts are with the injured, especially the child and their family, and we hope for a full recovery for everyone affected by this frightening incident.
