San Jose, CA (January 28, 2026) – A bus passenger sustained a head injury Monday after the vehicle made an abrupt stop to avoid a collision with a car that reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of North 11th St and Mission St.
The incident occurred when a silver Infiniti allegedly ran the stop sign and nearly T-boned the bus. The driver of the bus, identified as Transit 6673, was forced to brake hard to avoid the crash. While no contact was made between the two vehicles, the sudden stop caused a female passenger, believed to be in her fifties, to strike her head on a pole in the ADA seating area.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene. The woman suffered a visible bump to her head, though no bleeding was reported. She remained conscious and alert while waiting for paramedics.
Transit officials confirmed the location as the far side of Mission St on North 11th St. Medical responders were en route to assess the passenger’s condition and determine whether hospital transport was necessary.
An investigation into the near-miss incident is ongoing. Authorities are also working to identify the driver of the silver Infiniti that fled the area after running the stop sign.
We extend our best wishes to the injured passenger and hope for a full and speedy recovery.
