Why Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crashes Raise Serious Safety Concerns
Hit-and-run crashes often complicate investigations and delay accountability. When a driver leaves the scene, it can make it more difficult to gather immediate information about how the collision occurred.
Even in areas with moderate traffic, such as intersections near N Pacific St and W Mission Rd, pedestrian crashes can be severe. Nighttime conditions may reduce visibility, especially if street lighting is limited.
Leaving the scene of a crash is a criminal offense. Locating the suspect vehicle and driver becomes a priority in cases involving fatal injuries, particularly when witnesses are available to provide descriptions.
