Sarasota, FL (January 7, 2026) – A 56-year-old woman sustained injuries in a high-speed crash Monday morning near South Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. The collision, which resulted in significant vehicle damage and airbag deployment, occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m.
Emergency medical services transported the woman to Sarasota Memorial Hospital following the crash. According to dispatch reports, she was properly restrained at the time of the collision and remained alert and conscious at the scene. She reported pain in her left hip and flank but did not experience any loss of consciousness.
Vital signs recorded during transport included a heart rate of 92 bpm and a blood pressure reading of 94/50. The patient was breathing on room air with an oxygen saturation of 94% and was expected to arrive at the hospital within 15 minutes. Medics also noted that she takes Eliquis, a blood thinner, which may require special attention during treatment.
Authorities have not released the identity of the woman or confirmed details about the second vehicle involved. The Florida Highway Patrol and local law enforcement are likely continuing the investigation into what caused the high-speed impact.
