What Should Drivers Know About Crashes Involving School Buses?
Crashes involving school buses and other vehicles can pose serious risks due to the size and weight differences between them. Drivers sharing the road with buses should maintain a safe following distance and remain alert to changes in traffic.
Rural and county roads can present additional challenges. Narrow lanes, limited shoulders, intersections, changing road surfaces, and reduced visibility can affect how quickly drivers respond to traffic conditions. Staying focused and adjusting speed to the roadway can help reduce collision risks.
When a crash involves a school bus, information about the vehicles, roadway, traffic conditions, and reported injuries may help establish what happened. The number of people involved and whether medical treatment was needed can also affect the severity of the reported incident.
