Byron Center, MI (August 30, 2026) – Authorities are investigating a morning collision involving a car and a Byron Center Public Schools bus on Ivanrest Avenue SW near 68th Street. The incident happened around 8:15 a.m. on Friday, August 28, and left one driver injured.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said the car struck the school bus, leaving the driver with moderate injuries. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. None of the children on the bus were reported injured by the sheriff’s office. A parent told local media that two children were evaluated by EMS and later taken to an urgent care facility.
Firefighters, EMS, and Michigan State Police responded to the scene. Ivanrest Avenue SW was closed in both directions while crews worked to clear the area. Our thoughts are with the injured driver and the children who were evaluated as they recover.
