New Orleans, LA (August 14, 2026) – Multiple people suffered minor injuries on Wednesday morning in a multi-vehicle collision on the westbound Interstate 10 near the Louisa exit. A school bus carrying students was among the vehicles involved.
The vehicles were moved off the interstate, and parents and guardians were able to pick up students and take them to school. Traffic remained backed up in the area, and drivers were advised to use alternate routes.
The collision is still under review. We hope everyone hurt has a speedy recovery.
Why Can School Bus Crashes Create Complex Roadside Situations?
A crash involving a school bus can require added coordination because many passengers may need to be checked at the same time. Even minor injuries can take time to evaluate when several students are involved.
Traffic control can also become more difficult if the bus or other vehicles block travel lanes. Moving everyone to a safe place may be a priority before normal traffic can resume.
Passenger count, vehicle position, roadway width, and the number of vehicles involved can all affect how long delays continue. Parents or guardians may also need to be contacted so students can be safely released or continue to school.
