Silver Spring, MD (July 7, 2026) – Two adult women died after a house fire on Sunday morning, July 5, in the 2400 block of Harmon Road in Silver Spring. The fire was reported at about 4:18 a.m.
The call was made after an emergency medical unit saw haze near Georgia Avenue and Plyers Mill Road while returning from a hospital transport. The crew checked further and found the home on fire.
Emergency units later found the fire on the second floor of the house. No residents were outside when crews arrived, and both women were found during a search of the home.
The women were pronounced dead at the scene. One firefighter was brought to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The cause of the fire remains under review as investigators continue checking the home.
