We hope the injured passenger makes a full recovery.
Semi and Car Crashes at Rural Intersections Bring Added Risks
Crashes between semi-trucks and passenger vehicles at rural intersections can be serious because of the size difference between the vehicles. A semi is much heavier and may take longer to slow or stop than a smaller vehicle.
Rural highway crossings may also involve traffic moving at steady speeds from more than one direction. Drivers may need to judge distance, traffic gaps, signs, and vehicle speed before entering or crossing the roadway.
Older occupants may face added injury risks after a crash, even when seat belts and airbags are used. After a semi and car collision, reviews usually focus on travel direction, right of way, visibility, road surface, speed, and where each vehicle came to rest.
