Barstow, CA (July 11, 2026) – A traffic collision involving a semi-truck and a white pickup truck left one person hurt on Saturday morning on southbound Interstate 15 near the Ghost Town Road on-ramp in the Barstow area.

Dispatch logs indicate the collision was reported at approximately 9:50 a.m. Initial information stated that a semi-truck and a white pickup were involved. The pickup truck’s sole occupant was reported hurt, while the semi-truck driver was not injured.

The semi-truck, described as hauling double tanks, was reported to be carrying no hazardous materials. The truck sustained tire and fender damage. The pickup left the roadway, went through a fence about 50 feet off Interstate 15, and damaged fencing before a tow truck was requested to remove it.

Emergency units arrived at the roadway, and towing arrangements were made for the pickup. Additional details about the collision, including the extent of the person’s injuries and their identity, had not been released. The cause of the collision has not yet been determined, as investigators continue to review the circumstances.

We hope the person who was hurt makes a full and speedy recovery.

Why Vehicles Can Leave the Roadway After a Highway Collision

A vehicle may leave the roadway after contact with another vehicle for several reasons, including loss of steering control, sudden braking, tire damage, or attempts to avoid a secondary collision. On high-speed highways such as Interstate 15, even a relatively minor change in direction can send a vehicle into the shoulder or beyond roadside barriers and fencing.

When a vehicle travels off the pavement, investigators usually examine tire marks, roadway conditions, vehicle damage, and the surrounding terrain to help determine what occurred. They also review the vehicles’ positions after the collision and statements from those involved. Early dispatch information may change as additional evidence is gathered, so initial reports are frequently updated as the investigation progresses.
