Center Township, MI (August 18, 2026) – A 22-year-old man was seriously injured in a head-on crash on Center Road between Mapleton Road and Smokey Hollow Road on Sunday night, August 16. The collision occurred around 10:30 p.m.
Two vehicles collided head-on, leaving one vehicle on its side and another vehicle on fire. The 22-year-old driver became trapped and required an extended extrication before emergency crews freed him from the wreckage. He was taken to Munson Hospital for treatment of trauma and significant leg injuries.
The roadway was closed overnight while emergency crews handled the rescue, fire, and recovery efforts, with traffic diverted through Bowers Harbor Road and Peninsula Drive.
