Shannon Co, MO (January 22, 2026) – Two men sustained injuries in an early morning accident on Wednesday along US Highway 60, approximately three and a half miles east of Mountain View. The collision involved two eastbound vehicles and was influenced by icy road conditions.
According to reports from Troop G, the crash occurred around 5:40 a.m. when a 2005 Buick Century driven by a 41-year-old woman from Birch Tree lost control on the slick roadway. The vehicle turned sideways, blocking the lane of travel. A 2012 Ford Fiesta traveling behind her was unable to stop in time and struck the disabled vehicle from behind.
The Ford Fiesta, driven by a 22-year-old man from Mountain View, sustained minor damage and was later towed from the scene at the owner’s request. Both the driver and a 25-year-old male passenger reported injuries and were transported via private vehicle to Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View. All occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
The Buick Century also received minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene. Local authorities responded quickly to the icy conditions, and cleanup was completed without further incident.
As winter weather continues to affect road safety in the region, officials remind drivers to exercise caution, particularly during early morning hours when black ice can form unexpectedly.
Our thoughts are with the injured individuals, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
