Why Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crashes Are Especially Dangerous
Bicycle crashes involving motor vehicles often lead to serious injuries because cyclists have little protection during an impact. Even at moderate speeds, the force of a collision can throw a rider onto the roadway.
When a driver leaves the scene, it can delay aid for the injured cyclist. Quick medical attention is often critical in reducing the severity of injuries after a crash.
Roadway visibility, lighting conditions, and traffic flow may affect how drivers notice cyclists on the road. Early morning hours can pose additional challenges if fewer people are nearby to witness a collision.
Details such as vehicle damage, debris patterns, and witness reports are often used to help piece together how a bicycle crash occurred.
