Draper, UT (March 10, 2026) – One person was seriously injured in a crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 15 in Draper.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, March 10, along the southbound lanes of I-15 near Bangerter Hwy (SR-154). Reports indicate that a semi-truck rear-ended a Tesla in the area, leading to a significant traffic disruption.
Emergency units responded to the scene and assisted those involved. The driver of the Tesla was taken to a hospital in serious condition. Officials have not released the driver’s identity.
The crash blocked four lanes of southbound I-15, including the right shoulder, causing major delays for drivers in the area. No additional details about the events leading up to the collision have been released.
Authorities also reported a separate crash around the same time on the northbound side of I-15. That incident involved a Suburban pulling a camper that flipped over, resulting in minor injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
Why Rear-End Collisions With Large Trucks Can Be Severe
Rear-end crashes involving semi-trucks can cause serious damage due to the difference in vehicle size and weight. A fully loaded truck requires more distance to slow down than a smaller passenger vehicle.
When traffic slows or stops suddenly on busy highways, trucks may not have enough time to reduce speed before impact. This can lead to strong collisions that push smaller vehicles forward or trap them against barriers or other cars.
Investigators often review braking distance, traffic flow, and lane conditions in these crashes. Vehicle damage and roadway marks can also help explain how the collision occurred and why the vehicles were unable to avoid impact.
