Marion, OH (July 7, 2026) – A 16-year-old boy lost his life after being hit by a pickup truck Saturday night, July 4, along Likens-Chapel Road near Fairground Road in Marion Township.
According to investigators, a 46-year-old Marion woman had parked her 2009 Mercedes-Benz M-Class facing north on the roadside. Her teenage son was standing behind the SUV when a 2003 Ford Ranger driven by a 66-year-old Marion man struck the rear of the parked vehicle and then hit the teen.
The boy was taken to Marion General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Mercedes and two 14-year-old passengers were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The pickup driver received non-life-threatening injuries as well and was hospitalized.
Investigators have not released additional details about what may have led to the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under review as investigators continue gathering evidence.
