Umatilla, OR (July 7, 2026) – One passenger died, and three others were injured after a late-night collision on Sunday, July 5, on Interstate 82 near milepost 2 in Umatilla County. The accident was reported at 12:01 a.m.
Initial reports said Adrian Clara, 28, of Kennewick, Washington, was driving a black Dodge Ram west on Interstate 82 when the pickup left the road and began to roll.
A passenger, identified as Martin Diaz, 42, of Kennewick, died at the scene. Clara and another passenger, a 48-year-old Kennewick man, had serious injuries. A third passenger, a 21-year-old Kennewick man, had minor injuries.
All three surviving occupants were brought to a hospital for care. Troopers said speed and impairment are believed to have been factors. The freeway was closed for six hours while the wreck was reviewed. Authorities continue working to confirm the full sequence of events.
