Why Bridge Motorcycle Crashes Often Lead to Extended Closures
Crashes on bridges can cause longer traffic disruptions because these structures typically have limited lanes and few detour routes. When a serious motorcycle crash occurs, lanes are often fully closed to allow emergency access and investigation.
Motorcycle collisions are also closely examined due to the high risk of serious injury. Investigators typically review speed, roadway surface conditions, and traffic flow patterns leading up to the crash.
On elevated roadways such as bridges, cleanup and documentation can take additional time due to limited working space and the need to safely manage both traffic and emergency operations.
