How Lane Changes on Missouri Highways Can Lead to Crashes?
Highways like I-70 carry heavy traffic throughout the day, especially near major junctions such as MO-115. When vehicles move across multiple lanes in a short distance, the risk of a rear-end collision increases. Sudden swerving can leave little time for nearby drivers to react.
Rear-end crashes on highways often result from abrupt lane changes, distracted driving, or misjudging traffic speed. Even at moderate speeds, the force of impact can cause injuries and significant vehicle damage. Congested areas and merging zones can further raise the likelihood of these incidents.
Drivers can reduce risk by signaling early, checking blind spots carefully, and maintaining steady speeds. Leaving adequate following distance also provides more time to respond if traffic patterns shift unexpectedly.
